Charity 4 v 4 Power of Play Tournament

The First Annual Charity 4v4 Power of Play Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 20th. Columbus East Soccer Association (CESA), in partnership with Soccer Field Academy (SFA) and Columbus East FC (CEFC), will be hosting the event. CESA, SFA, and CEFC are Power of Play Partners with the Likoni Community Football League (, founded by Ben Levey, former CESA player, current League Director of CESA and Director of Operations for CEFC. 100% of the proceeds will go to the LCFL.

Registration Deadline: August 16th, 2017

Registration Fees: $25 per player

*Parents, please register your son and/or daughter individually. When you register you can list players that you would like placed on the team. There will be a maximum of six players on each team. Columbus East FC coaches will be putting together the teams to make them as fair as possible. Thank you!!

Times for 4v4 Matches: 
Under 9 - Under 11: 9:00am - 12:30pm
Under 12 - Under 15: 1:00pm - 4:30pm

Likoni Community Football League (
Founded in 2011, the Likoni Community Football League is based in Likoni, Mombasa, Kenya. The LCFL provides a competition base that exposes young people to the sport of soccer and provides opportunities to create leaders within the community.  The league is a gateway for other organizations to educate and enrich the lives of thousands of Likoni‚Äôs children. 

Recently, James Field of SFA, traveled with Levey on his annual trip to visit the soccer and development organization based in Mombasa, Kenya. While in Mombasa, James held sessions with many talented youth players that participate in this Kenyan youth league. He also worked with the local coaches, to help improve their coaching styles and philosophy. James has now taken a  a formal position as technical director to provide continuous support to LCFL coaches and players.

Power of Play

Nelson Mandela said, "Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite in a away that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the face of all types of discrimination." 

Mandela's words help signify why LCFL exists and the importance of the Power of Play partnerships with CESA and SFA. LCFL's mission is to provide impoverished youth, who are based in Mombasa, Kenya, the opportunity to play the sport they love all year-round. Through these Power of Play partnerships, Columbus-based organizations like CESA and SFA have begun to support the LCFL by collecting soccer equipment and balls, and by hosting small fundraisers.
